The chest is aching

Aching pain can often be described as moderate and persistent. It is these characteristics that make it dangerous, since a person will eventually become accustomed to such a state and may even begin to regard it as the norm. But aching pain in the chest in most cases is an early sign of various dangerous ailments of the mammary glands, chest organs and neurological diseases. Therefore, in order to find out why the chest is aching, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Diseases of the mammary glands

The dull moderate pain in the chest, which appears a week or a half before the menstruation and disappears with its onset, is often not a disease, but only shows the presence of hormonal changes in the body of a woman as a result of an overabundance of progesterone. In medicine, this condition is called mastodynia. It is not dangerous to ache in the chest and early in pregnancy, when it is associated with an increase in the size of the mammary glands. All other cases - this is a serious reason to see a doctor.

If a woman has chest pain, this may be due to the presence of such serious breast diseases as mastopathy, fibroadenoma and breast cancer:

  1. Mastopathy refers to a benign growth of connective tissue with the appearance of cysts and nodules.
  2. Fibroma and fibroadenoma are also considered benign neoplasms. These tumors can reach considerable sizes and overlap the milk ducts. In this case, a woman can complain that her right or left chest is aching.
  3. The most dangerous ailment is breast cancer. It should be noted that in the early stages of cancer does not hurt. And at the late - in addition to that that the chest is aching, there are other symptoms: an increase in axillary lymph nodes, a drawn nipple or a separate area of the skin, discharge from the nipples.

Aching pain with diseases of the chest and neuroses

If the left breast is aching after suffering an infectious disease, it can be a symptom of myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle. Among other causes of myocardial damage, you can identify the intake of certain drugs or toxic substances. In this disease, most often not only the left chest aching, but also shortness of breath, palpitations and dizziness.

However, do not panic immediately if your chest is aching. Sometimes this condition can be associated not with any serious diseases of the mammary glands and organs of the chest, but be a symptom of banal neuroses, hysteria, intercostal neuralgia, osteochondrosis.
