What is interesting about Mount Donachka?
The Donaca Mountain is popular due to its location and the resort complex located near it. Rogaška Resort is famous for its healing water, called "Donat Mg", due to its high magnesium content, it is able to help with many diseases. This composition of water in other sources of Europe no one saw.
According to legend, such water and the city originated here, when the winged horse Pegasus hit the hoof in these lands. People began to settle around the spring, and the town of Rogaška-Slatina was founded. This is an excellent medical and tourist center, in the region of the mountain there is abundant air, healing water and mild climate.
In the vicinity of the resort and mountain slopes the Minorit monastery is located, it has a thousand-year history of existence. Initially, on the hill stood a fortress, and then it was rebuilt under the castle, later the idea to create a monastery was born. This building is designed in a revival style and has gray walls and a red roof. In the building there is one room that has preserved its medieval appearance, now it houses the oldest European pharmacy. Medicines in it are made only from natural ingredients by the monarchs themselves, each tourist can buy himself tinctures from medicinal herbs.
Tourist route on the mountain Donachka
One of the most popular walking excursions is the trip to the Donachka mountain. Its name was acquired by the Donat church , which was built on the slope in the 18th century. Walking along the mountain route, you can see besides natural attractions and other interesting places, for example, this is the church of St. Mary. At the top of the mountain a stone cross is erected at a height of 8 m. The famous mountain and beautiful forests with rare trees and plants, some of them are protected by law. The path to the Donachka mountain rises to a height of 881 m. It takes 4 hours to reach the mountain house, and about 5 hours to the summit of the mountain. The ascent to the mountain consists of such points: the railway station Rogoshko - Cerovets near Bochem - the Grilov chapel - Ravnocerye (679 m) - Lozhno - Stara Graba - Zhenchai (616 m) - Mountain house (590 m) and the mountain top. There is also a trail between the mountains of Boch and Donachka, the journey between their mountain houses will last 6 hours.
