If a responsible and such an exciting period of pregnancy is suddenly marred by an unforeseen threat to the mother's health and, hence, the fetus, with the uselessness of other methods of treatment, doctors often resort to obstetric operations. The decision by the obstetrician to surgically eliminate the problems that have arisen is made on the basis of a meticulous examination of the condition of the mother and fetus.
Classification of obstetrical operations
Urgency surgical interventions on female organs are divided into planned and emergency; on the degree of complexity - on large and small. The operation of caesarean section , amputation of organs, cysts and knots to be removed is defined as large operations. The rest are considered small.
Concerning pregnancy terms, gynecological operations are conventionally divided into three groups:
- operations performed during pregnancy for the sake of its preservation;
- operations that are already performed during childbirth;
- operations performed in the early postpartum period.
Obstetric surgeries during pregnancy
Nowadays obstetricians try to avoid surgical interventions in the "holy of holies" of pregnant women, but there are force majeure situations that do not allow delay. These include, for example, torsion, rupture or proliferation of the ovarian cyst, necrosis in the myomatous node, which require urgent removal. The revealed state of isthmic-cervical insufficiency requires urgent suturing. Modern methods allow to eliminate in most cases gynecological problems in the most sparing mode, usually with the help of laparoscopy. As an anesthetic, well-established epidural anesthesia is used.
Indications for obstetrical operations
If problems are found that require urgent surgical operation, the treating physician should carefully study all the conditions that allow the operative method and weigh the pros and cons. However, there are diseases and situations that threaten the condition of the mother and fetus and require immediate interventions. These include:
- problems with the heart and blood vessels of the mother and fetus;
- problems with their respiratory system;
- problems with the placenta;
- narrow pelvis;
- absence of expelling forces.
Each woman needs to know her weaknesses and, before pregnancy, minimize emergencies with health, but if they still catch up with you - do not despair and trust the obstetrician-surgeon completely, becoming a companion in overcoming problems.
