Treatment after a stiff pregnancy and curettage

Unfortunately, some pregnancies end in the fading of the fetus at various times. The reasons for this are completely different, but most often are hormonal or accidental chromosomal abnormalities that do not manifest themselves in the next pregnancy, and everything ends well.

What treatment is carried out after a stiff pregnancy and curettage?

As soon as the ultrasound is examined, it is established that the fetus has ceased to evolve, and in fact it is dead, the woman is made to scrape out the uterine cavity and extract the embryo and fetal membranes. This operation is performed under general anesthesia and is completely identical to the artificial termination of pregnancy, except that the fetus is no longer viable.

After that, the contents of the uterus are sent to the histology to find out the cause of fetal death. After the results are obtained, various medications are administered on their basis in order to save the female body from a possible infection, as the culprits of a frozen pregnancy. If it is determined that the fetus died because of genetic abnormalities, then the couple is referred to a geneticist.

Treatment after cleansing (scraping) with a dead pregnancy consists in antibiotic therapy to prevent infection after surgery. Depending on how long the fetus died and when the scraping was carried out, a woman can be sent to be treated at home. If the fetus died long ago and there were already signs of decomposition, it is left in the hospital and an infusion therapy (dropper) is performed.

The recovery period after scraping lasts about a month, during which the load and sex life should be eliminated. After the body comes back to normal, careful contraception will be necessary for some time, after all, the soon-to-come pregnancy again can be problematic in bearing, if the body does not have time to fully recover by this time.
