Quang Si

Quang Si is one of the most famous natural attractions of Laos , a four-cascade waist-deep waterfall, whose maximum height is 54 m. There is the Quang Si waterfall less than 30 km from Luang Prabang , the administrative center in the north of Laos (now called Luang Prabang). It is located on the territory of the Tat Quang Sea National Park, where the Himalayan bears rescue center is also located, so that when visiting the waterfall , it is highly likely to see these animals that live here in conditions as close to natural as possible.

What is a waterfall?

Kuang Si has 4 levels. Each of them has shallow natural pools, the water in which, thanks to the limestone contained in the rocks, has a stunning turquoise color. On the lower level, many swim. At the upper levels, you can also swim, but it's less convenient than the bottom. The height of the main cascade is 54 m.

Along the waterfall on the right and left are trails, along which you can climb to the very top, where there is a convenient observation deck. On the right, the rise is heavier. At all levels, places for picnics and recreation are organized. Here is a small restaurant. The place is popular not only among tourists, but also among local residents.

How to get to Quang Si?

To get to the waterfall from Luang Prabang , you can hire a tuk-tuk. It will cost 150-200 thousand kip, which corresponds to the equivalent of $ 18-25. The main disadvantage of this mode of transportation can be called the fact that during the winter the trip will be simply uncomfortable.

You can go to the waterfall and a minivan or a minibus, where different companies take tourists there. Usually, a round trip with a full car load costs 45,000 kip (about $ 5.5). Such tourist minivans take tourists directly to the waterfall, wait there for 3 hours, and then drive back - everyone to his hotel . You can get to the waterfall and yourself - for example, on a rented bike or car.

The cost of visiting the park itself is 20 thousand kip (about $ 2.5). It is open daily from 8:00 to 17:30.
