Innovation in the decor of the interior was rolled curtains, often used in urban and cottage interiors. By their design and functionality, they are very similar to blinds, however, unlike the latter, they are used mainly in office buildings, they are appropriate in the kitchen, or in the living room, bathroom or bedroom, depending on the color scheme. Thanks to natural materials and often pastel colors, roller blinds create an atmosphere of freshness, ease and comfort in your home, and convenience in use makes them more popular.
However, despite the simplicity of design and the low cost of materials, prices for roller blinds are not encouraging, and not everyone can afford to decorate their home with them. For such cases, we will offer an alternative - to do roller blinds with your own hands.
Production of roller blinds by own hands
How to sew roll blinds, we show in the master class on the example of making curtains on the cabinet for TV, but the technology of sewing curtains on the window is no different, you just need to increase its size. You can come up with a lot of variations of tailoring of roller blinds, both form and color solution in the form of a combination of several fabrics.
So, in order to sew the roller blinds, we need the following materials:
- dense fabric is preferably of natural composition, however, in many cases, an iridescent synthetics is needed, two cuts are needed, in size corresponding to the size of the space that we need to cover up;
- contact tape, better known as Velcro, its length should correspond to the width of the curtain, but it is still better to take it with a small margin;
- metal tube-weighting agent;
- hacksaw for metal;
- braid, which will hold the curtain in a folded position, if in the braid of synthetics, e edges should be treated with a cigarette lighter or candles, so that it does not start hurried;
- sewing machine;
- stapler or glue "Moment".

How to make roller blinds - master class
- First of all, we sew two flaps of fabric with faces facing outward, spread out on three sides. We turn out the resulting product on the front side and immediately carefully iron all the seams, so it will be easier to work.
- Next, put the metal tube-weighting on the bottom of the resulting bag, pre-correcting the hacksaw tube length, if there is such a need. Now we will execute a line above the weighting agent with a minimum allowance of 5 mm.
- Now we will try to twist the curtain into a roll - it should not slip.
- Then we need to sew a velcro and ribbon. Let's start with Velcro - we'll tuck and overtake the upper part of the curtain, then sew along the soft part of the contact tape, called the "mother" in the people.
- Then, from both sides along the curtain symmetrically sew the braid from the wrong side, and from the front. It should not be located too close neither to the edge, nor to the center, we choose the "golden mean".
- Our roll curtain, made by our own hands, is ready, but there was a question of how to fix it. We offer the easiest way - we take the second part of the Velcro, "dad", and attach it with the stapler directly to the upper bar of the cabinet, instead of the stapler, you can use the glue "Moment". In the event that you decide to sew a roller blind for a window, the hard side of the Velcro will have to be fastened directly to the cornice with glue.
As we see, for the production of a roller curtain with our own hands, we needed the minimum of materials and only a couple of hours of free time. Enjoy the result of your work!
