Social Education

Under social education is understood the process of purposeful creation of certain conditions for the further development and improvement of man.

The content of social education

In itself, the category of education is one of the key in pedagogy. Therefore, for many years of history there are absolutely different approaches to its consideration.

Many scientists, when characterizing education, distinguish it in a broad sense, including also the result of influencing the personality of society as a whole. At the same time, the process of upbringing is, as it were, identified with socialization . Therefore, it is often very difficult to single out a certain content of social education.

The goals of social education

Under the goal of social education, it is common to understand the predicted results in the process of preparing the younger generation for life. In other words, the main goal of this process is the preparation of preschool children through social education for life in modern society.

Therefore, every teacher should thoroughly know the goals of this process in order to have a clear idea of what qualities he is called upon to contribute to.

To date, the main goal of the whole long process of education is considered to be the formation of a person who will be fully ready to perform socially significant functions and become a worker.

Values inculcated in the process of education

Usually two groups of values of the process of social education are singled out:

  1. Certain cultural values of a particular society, which are implicit (that is, they are meant, but not specifically formulated), as well as those that were formulated not by one generation of thinkers.
  2. The values of a specific historical character, which were determined according to the ideology of a particular society, in this or that period of its long historical development.

Means of Education

The means of social education are quite specific, multifaceted and diverse. In each specific case, they depend, first of all, on the level at which the society is located, as well as on its ethnic traditions and cultural peculiarities. An example of them can be methods of encouraging and punishing children, as well as products of material and spiritual culture.

Educational methods

In the process of social education of children in school, the following methods are usually used:

The last of the listed in their composition are very close to those that are actively used by social workers. At the same time, the teacher conducts a multifaceted plan for work with especially needy children who are brought up in dysfunctional families.

Organizational methods are directed, first of all, to the very organization of the collective. It is as a result of their use that personal relationships between individual members of the school collective are built. Also, with their assistance, various school sections and interest groups are being created. In short, the purpose of using such methods is to organize the activities of students. That is why the main methods of organizational nature are considered to be discipline, and also the mode.

Psychological and pedagogical methods are the most numerous. They include such methods as: research, observation, interviews and conversation. The most common method that does not require special conditions, so it can be used in any school, is surveillance.

However, in order to form a comprehensive personality that will not have a problem in the process of socialization, education should be conducted not only within the walls of an educational institution, but also in the family.
