Soy products

Today, on the shelves of stores, soy products are present in both explicit and "make-up" form. For example, everyone knows that tofu is soy cheese. But the producers prefer not to spread in many kinds of sausages, also soy protein. Let's consider, whether soya products are useful and whether it is necessary to include them in the ration?

Soy and soy products

The world knows soya for a very long time: it began to be cultivated as far back as 2800 BC before the new era in China. This is an annual plant, which is referred to as legumes. Like all representatives of this class, soy bears pods.

To date, soy is considered to be the most affordable and popular vegetable protein , it produces milk, cheese and meat substitutes, which are very popular among those who have leaned into veganism and abandoned all products of animal origin. Despite the fact that this protein has a relatively low biological value index, and it is not recommended to athletes (it is better to use whey or egg white), for people who are not working to build muscle mass, this is quite an acceptable option.

In other words, if you are a vegetarian and do not want to have health problems, soy is an excellent source of vegetable protein, which must certainly be present every day in the diet.

Very useful for vegans and soy "dairy" products - cheese, milk. Of course, they are not as useful as natural, but it's better than nothing. But a person who does not refuse to use animal protein, do not make a choice in favor of soy substitutes.

Caloric content of soy products

Consider how appropriate the diet is for soy products. Are they really lighter than normal? Consider the popular products and compare them with their natural substitutes:

  1. Soy tofu is a substitute for cheese. In tofu only 73 kcal per 100 g, of which 8 g of protein. If you take an ordinary cheese, for example, Russian, it has 363 kcal and 24 grams of protein per 100 g of product. Tofu uniquely leads - it is 5 times lighter and for the diet is excellent.
  2. Soybean oil . This liquid vegetable oil, the calories in which exactly the same as in the usual vegetable - 899 kcal per 100 g of product. Thus, there is no sense to replace the usual oil with soybean, both have a similar composition and energy value.
  3. Soy flour is a substitute for the usual wheat flour. It has a caloric content of 385 units, and the usual - 342 kcal. However, they produce a fat-free version of such flour, which is much easier, but it is not so easy to find it on the shelves.
  4. Soy milk . It is made after a number of complex operations on ordinary soybean beans. It is more correct to call this "soy drink", but because of the similarity with milk, this name is more common. It has no smell, which is why almost everyone can drink it, even those who do not tolerate regular milk. If you are not vegan, it makes no sense to replace them with regular milk, because the calorie content of soy products is 54 kcal, and the usual cow's milk Milk with a fat content of 2.5% has an energy value of 52 units.
  5. Soy meat is a much more popular product than it seems at first glance. Somehow it is present in many cheap sausages and sausages, in semi-finished products. In Turkey, it is served in hotels most often, as the meat of animals in this country is not too common. Soy meat is much more caloric than usual - 296 kcal versus 187 kcal (in beef).

Summing up, we can say that of all soy products for dietary nutrition for the purpose of losing weight only cheese (cottage cheese) tofu is good. All other products should be left to those who, by virtue of their beliefs, are not ready to consume animal protein.
