At present, the tallest television tower in the world is the Heavenly Tree of Tokyo . It was built to transmit digital video and radio signals. The old television tower , which is one of the symbols of Tokyo, was not high enough. We built a new support for antennas from 2008 to 2012. It got its exotic name thanks to the popular vote. 30% of all those who took part in the vote voted for "Tokyo Skytree".
Description
The height of the new tower is 2 times bigger than the old one and is 634 m. The number is chosen for a reason, without philosophy there has not been done. Each digit in the old Japanese sounds like a syllable. Together they form the word Musashi. This is the name of the historical area where Tokyo is now located. The tower's construction is such that it will withstand an earthquake of 7 points, if the epicenter is located directly below it.
The main purpose of Heavenly Wood is a digital signal for various purposes, but it is also a very popular tourist site. Its main attractions are observation platforms:
- The lower one is at an altitude of 350 m and is called the Tembo Dek. There are three tiers in it. The third, upper, allows you to get a full panoramic view of Tokyo. On the second tier there are restaurants and shops. The lower tier attracts the floor, made partly of durable glass. It creates a feeling of flying over the city. At the height of the Tembo Des, visitors are provided with a high-speed elevator called the Tembo Shuttle. In order to deliver 40 people to a height of 350 m, it takes 50 seconds. Tickets to Tembo Dek are sold on the fourth floor of the tower and cost about $ 20.
- The second viewing platform is 110 m higher and called the Heavenly Path. There visitors are delivered by another high-speed elevator. This site is a spiral ramp that runs around the tower, providing a circular view. From here you can appreciate the greatness of Tokyo. If this is not enough for someone, you can climb to the largest accessible tower height - 451 m, called Sorakara.
At the foot of Sky Three there is a huge shopping and entertainment center of Solomati. Here you can walk around numerous shops, sit in cafes, bars or restaurants, visit an aquarium or a planetarium.
How to get there?
The heavenly tree of Tokyo is located in the Sumida region. There are two railway stations: Tokyo Sky Three and Tobu Isesaki.
Can be reached by bus:
- from Tokyo station - the duration of the trip is 30 minutes, the cost is $ 5;
- from Haneda airport can be reached in 55 minutes, paying $ 9;
- from Tokyo Disneyland Park it takes 50 minutes and costs $ 7.
