The heart in European culture has long symbolized love, tenderness and devotion. And, of course, you can not do without this symbol on the holiday of all lovers. We propose to make a topiary in the form of a heart for St. Valentine's Day. A tree of happiness with a heart instead of a crown will be a talisman that will keep your feelings, guarding against envy and unkind thoughts. It is necessary to place the love charm created by one's own hands in a prominent place in the living room or bedroom.

Topiary "Heart" with my own hands
You will need:
- a flap of rather dense fabric with a printed pattern;
- a narrow bright silk or kapron ribbon;
- decorative braid;
- thread in the color of one of the elements of the drawing;
- special scissors;
- sewing needle;
- sheet of A4 cardboard for the stencil;
- graphite pencil;
- flowerpots of bright or light color;
- rod for the trunk;
- paper;
- PVA glue;
- small artificial flowers.
Sequence of work:
- When choosing a fabric, cotton fabrics (satin, poplin, etc.) or blended fabrics with a clear graphic pattern should be preferred. We begin with the manufacture of the heart. Cut out a cardboard pattern-heart. Fold the selected fabric twice with the front side inward, apply the stencil and, without shifting it, draw a graphite pencil or tailor's crayon. We break the fabric with pins so that it does not move during the cutting process. The obtained details are cut using special scissors with blades forming the jagged edges.
- Choose a bright thread that coincides in color with one of the elements of the picture, but contrasts with the main background of the fabric.
- Straight stitches sew the heart along the contour, retreating from the edge of 1.5 cm, leaving not a small piece sewn (thread not cut). We fill the resulting workpiece with a soft plastic material, for example, hollofayberom or sintepon, evenly distributing it. It is important not to overdo it with padding: the heart should be stuffed tightly, but not be too "thick" at the same time.
- We put in the center of the workpiece a stick for the topiary, so that the heart is firmly held, and sew up to the end, firmly securing the thread.
- We prepare pots, we put in it the crumpled paper impregnated with glue PVA. In the center we place a stick with the heart fixed on it. We diligently tamp the paper so that the topiary is securely fixed. The best fastening is the filling of the cavity of the pot with gypsum. The wand is installed immediately after pouring, until the gypsum is grabbed.
- We perform the finishing touches to make the article look presentable. We glue with PVA glue decorative braid on the top edge of the flowerpots, spread out the surface of the flowerpots with artificial flowers (you can use colored decorative pebbles or bright sisal), in the place of joining the wand and heart we tie a nice bow from a thin silk ribbon.
