Toy Museum

The largest and one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland is considered to be Zurich . The city is full of interesting attractions , including amusement parks, theaters and, of course, museums . One of the most unusual, interesting and fun is the Toy Museum.

History of the Toy Museum

The history of the museum begins in the 19th century, in the toy store of a man named Franz Karl Weber. Weber treasured a particularly rare and beautiful part of his toys, in addition, over time, the collection was replenished with rare toys from the auction, and the store began to expand. News of an incredible collection scattered around Zurich and people began to come to Weber with a request that he let them look at his collection. Soon, Weber bought his own apartment with a two-room apartment, and this very museum was marked in it, which we can now observe.

What to see in the museum?

In so many unusual museums in Zurich, the history of toys is presented for a whole century, which allows you to observe the evolution in design and see how children have changed preferences for a century. On the windows of the museum you can see elegant dolls and their miniature houses. By the way, especially for girls in a separate showcase is the evolution of Barbie, where you can see the very first models of plump blondes and compare them with modern slender dolls.

For boys, there is a section in the museum, in which are represented the toy armies of any country, military equipment, riders on horses and other animals. In addition to military themes, on the next showcases are railways, models of trains from the very first to the present. Do not deprived of attention and soft toys, because the whole room was allocated to show their history, in particular for teddy bears.
