Kunětická Hora

In the central part of the Czech Republic, near the town of Pardubice , one of the most famous castles of the country - Kunětická Hora - is located. It was built in the XIV century and played an important role in the Hussite wars, which took place in Bohemia in 1419-1434. Now it is an important historical and architectural landmark , which since 2001 is one of the national cultural monuments of the country.

History of the Kunětická Mountain

According to archaeological research, the castle was built in the first half of the 14th century. At the time of the Hussite wars, Kunětická Hora was used as a strategically stronghold of Hetman Diviš Bórzek. It was he who became the official owner of the castle and the surrounding lands. In 1464, the son of Diviš Bórzek sold the possessions. Later the castle was bought and resold many times, which did not have a good effect on his condition.

In 1919, the Pardubice Museum Society bought Kunětický Hora and began to restore it. Even now, when the castle is owned by the state and is managed by the National Institute of Monuments, restoration work is not ceasing. However, this does not prevent us from using it for theater, music and historical events.
