The main active substance of the drug is ursodeoxycholic acid. It makes it possible to lower the level of cholesterol, increase pancreatic activity of the liver, and prolong the period of active work. This helps to effectively dissolve cholesterol and gallstones, and also prevent them from reappearing. Taking the drug can prevent the development of fibrosis, reduce the likelihood of the appearance of varicose veins, slow the aging of cells.

Treatment with this agent is performed in case of problems with the liver. Hepatoprotector therapy can be prescribed as a prophylaxis of a cholestatic syndrome with the intake of hormonal contraceptives and liver protection when using cytostatics and other medications. Also, taking the drug can be prescribed for prevention when working in hazardous production.

Drug Ursosan, first of all, is shown for use in uncomplicated cholelithiasis to dissolve pebbles and prevent their formation.
