Hepatoprotective drugs, which protect cells from negative effects, normalize the production of bile and prevent the appearance of stones. These include Ursosan, the indications for use of which include its use against various pathologies of the liver.
How does Ursosan work?
The main active substance of the drug is ursodeoxycholic acid. It binds excess cholesterol and bile, forming micelles, which are isolated from important organs and are deprived of the ability to poison the body. Thanks to this, the medicine is endowed with choleretic and immunomodulating action. It makes it possible to lower the level of cholesterol, increase pancreatic activity of the liver, and prolong the period of active work. This helps to effectively dissolve cholesterol and gallstones, and also prevent them from reappearing. Taking the drug can prevent the development of fibrosis, reduce the likelihood of the appearance of varicose veins, slow the aging of cells.
Indications for use of the drug Ursosan
Treatment with this agent is performed in case of problems with the liver. Hepatoprotector therapy can be prescribed as a prophylaxis of a cholestatic syndrome with the intake of hormonal contraceptives and liver protection when using cytostatics and other medications. Also, taking the drug can be prescribed for prevention when working in hazardous production.
Drug Ursosan, first of all, is shown for use in uncomplicated cholelithiasis to dissolve pebbles and prevent their formation. In this case, treatment is effective only against stones whose diameter does not exceed 1.5 cm. In addition, Ursosan is used in other pathologies of biliary tract, for example, when sclerosing. Capsule therapy is also recommended for ductal arthrosis, which is explained by problems of intrauterine development.
Ursosan has the following main indications:
- failure in the process of digestion, associated with the work of the biliary tract;
- hepatitis acute and chronic course;
- alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver;
- biliary liver cirrhosis;
- cystic fibrosis ;
- cholestasis of newborns;
- sclerosing cholangitis;
- opisthorchiasis of chronic form;
- as part of combined therapy for liver transplant and other organs;
- reflux-gastritis;
- reflux esophagitis ;
- nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
Treatment Ursosan should be conducted under the constant control of the activity of transaminases, the composition of blood, the state of the bile ducts. The patient is regularly prescribed an ultrasound examination. After the final dissolution of the stones, it is required to extend the course of treatment for another three months in order to remove the remains that were not found during the survey. In addition, it helps to prevent the re-emergence of stones.
Contraindications to the use of Ursosan tablets
The drug has no age restrictions. However, children under the age of 4 may experience difficulty in swallowing.
It is forbidden to use the drug for treatment with such problems:
- excessive calcium content in the calculi;
- worsening of the gallbladder;
- cirrhosis in decompensation;
- hepatic and renal insufficiency;
- cholecystitis and cholangitis of an acute nature;
- acute pathologies of the gallbladder;
- intolerance of components.
Among the undesirable phenomena are:
- diarrhea;
- constipation;
- dizziness;
- exacerbation of chronic diseases, most often psoriasis;
- allergic reactions;
- calcification of deposits in the bile ducts.
