Very often, people working abroad had to either confirm a diploma or retrain.
And although the Lisbon Convention, to which Russia acceded in 1999, states that all countries that signed this agreement must recognize each other's diplomas, in real life it turned out that this does not always happen.
For example, concepts such as "engineer", "doctor of science" abroad do not have unambiguous. Therefore, over time, there is a need to bring diplomas to international standards, so that their owners can find employment in any country without problems.
In 1999, the participants of the Bologna Process signed a declaration that higher education in all countries should be two-level: bachelor - 4 years, postgraduate - 2 years.
In 2003, Russia joined this process, and in 2005 - Ukraine.
In 2009, a two-tiered education system began to operate in Russia officially.
Many universities and universities have switched to a new education system, but the classical education system (one-level) has remained.
Before the future students, who graduated from the 11th form , the question arose, which form of training should be chosen?
What is the difference between a bachelor's degree and a specialty?
Bachelor's degree is the first level of a two-level education system. The second (not compulsory) level in this system is the magistracy, or the student immediately moves on to professional work.
Specialty is the classical education system. That is, the system that all students used to study before.
Future students wonder: "What is better, bachelor or specialist"?
Let's consider what the bachelor's degree differs from the specialty, what kind of training is better to choose.The difference between the bachelor degree and the specialty
Bachelor's program
To put it more clearly, the baccalaureate is a basic education. Many call it "incomplete higher", although the bachelor's degree is a full-fledged higher education.
Studying at the undergraduate, the student will receive in full-time or in absentia form the basic, general knowledge of the chosen specialty. Upon completion, the student will receive the right or start working, or continue his education further in the magistracy.
Positive aspects of bachelor's degree:
- the diploma of the European sample;
- the opportunity to pass a master's degree in Europe;
- time to decide on the choice and change the specialty or university.
Disadvantages of undergraduate:
- the opinion of employers that bachelors are inferior to specialists;
- lack of free places in the magistracy;
- a high fee for studying in a magistracy on a fee basis;
- admission to graduate school is possible only after graduation.
Specialty
Specialty is the usual 5-6 year old training at the university.
Benefits:
- more prestigious education in the eyes of employers than bachelor's degree;
- full-fledged training;
- immediately you can go to graduate school.
Disadvantages:
- difficulties with the recognition of a diploma abroad;
- impossibility of free-of-charge training in a magistracy (since the magistracy will be considered the second higher education);
- when studying in a magistracy the student is deprived of a delay from the army.
The transition from specialist to bachelor's degree is rather difficult. Some specialties, as it turned out, never went to a two-tier education system, since it is impossible to prepare a doctor, for example, for 4 years.
Instead of moving to a new education system completely, in Russia both the bachelor's degree and the specialty exist in parallel. At the same time on the baccalaureate continue to teach the old methods. For example, a 100-point grading system is not used.
We have to admit that in fact, choosing between bachelor's degree and specialty, the difference can be felt only in the number of years of study.
We hope that the information provided will help you make the right choice and spend money and time on getting the knowledge you need.
