A verbal image is an opinion about a person, formed on the basis of information about him. Such an opinion is formed only through oral or written speech.
For a business person, a verbal image is of great importance. Potential partners, before they meet with you personally, will necessarily inquire about your reputation in the business community. In this case, the influence of the opinions of others should not be underestimated. The main verbal element of the image is your speech. If you have problems with this, it is sometimes better to remain silent, rather than explain your thoughts in an incomprehensible way. An even better way out of the situation is your training. To form a positive verbal image, the following recommendations should be implemented:
- practice speech and thinking. Learn to clearly, correctly speak and formulate a thought;
- communicate with people on a positive wave;
- smile when talking and try to cause a similar response;
- take into account the personal interests of the interlocutor;
- if there is a need, do not hesitate to talk about "forbidden" topics. You show confidence and sincerity;
- respect the culture of speech and business etiquette;
- Do not dissolve gossip and do not discuss third parties behind their backs;
- listen to your interlocutor, show your interest;
- say compliments when appropriate;
- Do not cover your mouth with your hand when you laugh. Such a gesture causes distrust to you;
- always refer to the interlocutor by name;
- remember such verbal components of the image as: intonation, timbre, diction, emotionality, meaning of statements, logic and reasoning of speech.
- try to form in people pleasant associations with your person.
Be a decent and responsive person. Show respect to other people and do not avoid the opportunity to always be in the center of attention.
