Breeding quail at home

Divorce quails at home - the occupation is no more complex than containing any other domesticated birds. If the size of your housing is rather big, then a few goals will not give you much trouble. However, some features of the breeding and rearing of quails do exist. It is necessary to familiarize with them before planting quails.

Cell

Of course, you can use the usual cage, which usually contains canaries or parrots. But there are also special cells for breeding quail, in which birds feel more comfortable, and it will be easier for you to take care of them. Usually breeders and chicks sell cages for breeding quail at home, but you can do it yourself. The size depends on the number of birds. In general, one quail requires at least 180 square centimeters of area. If there are many quails, but there is not enough space, then the cells can be placed on top of each other.

In the room where the cage is located, it is necessary to create a constant temperature regime - 20-22 degrees. Quail can normally live and in unheated non-residential premises, where the temperature below 8 degrees does not drop, but the egg production will decrease significantly. There should be no drafts and high humidity. The optimal rate is 65-70%.

Incubator

For a beginner poultry farmer, it is better to start the breeding of quails with the acquisition of an adult bird. If you set out to grow young, then you can not do without an incubator, because you never quail eggs. A small-scale household incubator is an excellent solution for incubating and breeding a quail at home. Please note that the capacity of this device is indicated from the calculation of the placed eggs, and the quail will enter four times more. After 17.5 days after the bookmark, the brood will actively hatch. This usually takes about six hours. Little chicks are very bright and weigh only 7 grams. Then the chickens are transferred to brooders - special boxes made of cardboard, plastic or plywood. If the chicks are not more than thirty, then the usual wooden box for parcels is quite fit.

Before you build a quail at home, ensure a normal heat and light mode in the room where the birds will be kept. The bird is quite shy, so it is necessary to protect it from external stimuli.

Feeding

Quails grow quickly, so they devote all their time to finding the edible. From the very first day the chicks begin to eat on their own, so you should buy a specialized protein food with mineral substances and vitamin supplements. Often on the packaging of mixed fodders it is indicated that they need to use 10 days, but experienced quail-makers recommend feeding it for at least a month.

Two months later the chicks already reach adult quail by weight. They need to be fed three times a day. There must always be a drinking trough in their cage. If for a variety of reasons you can not feed and water a bird every day, then it makes sense to purchase automatic drinkers and bunker feeders. As necessary, they will be filled without your participation. Please note that you should wash the water gutters every day.

Quail eggs

In general, the main purpose of breeding and caring for quails is to obtain food dietary eggs. That is, males do not necessarily have to have eggs, in any case. Egg quails are very useful. Up to the point that they are advised to use it together with the shell, which consists of 95% calcium and contains fluorine, copper, molybdenum, manganese, phosphorus, silicon, zinc, sulfur and other trace elements, which the body needs so much.
