In addition to brownish or brownish color, the discharge from the vagina before delivery can be of different consistency - from watery discharge to thick mucus, often they have a specific odor as when menstruating. When there are cheesy-white excretions before childbirth - there may be a suspicion of candidiasis, which requires immediate antifungal therapy under the supervision of a doctor.

Dirty gray, yellowish or greenish admixtures in the vaginal discharge are evidence of infection, which calls for a doctor-gynecologist.

Allocations of mucous plug, bloody or brown discharge long before the expected delivery, in combination with cramping pain in the lower abdomen, require an urgent visit to the gynecologist - as they can become the first symptom of premature birth, rejection of the fetus and placenta.
