Common sense is a fragile concept, which, in theory, should all be the same, but, as it turns out often, it varies in many aspects. Sometimes there is a feeling that common sense is a kind of mythical category, to which many of our loved ones like to cry:
- "You act contrary to common sense!"
- "This contradicts common sense!"
- "There's no point in that! Good-so sure! "
How many times have we heard these phrases from our moms and dads, from our loved ones and even the bosses at work. They often tell us this because some of our actions "do not fit" into their model of the world. That, in general, it is understandable, because people have different experiences of different ages, generations and upbringings.
In theory, common sense is a combination of views and reactions to the world around us. It is he who, as a rule, underlies human morality. This is some common form of attitude to what is happening in the world, some skills and achievements of entire generations of people, moments and views in which they were in solidarity with each other and thus - adopted this model of thinking - for the right and right. Common sense very strongly binds society to traditions.
Common sense in the modern world
Philosophers have defined the term "common sense", as something that a person instinctively, subconsciously accepts for truth. It is passed on from generation to generation, from the parent to the child. This is folk wisdom and common sense.
However, it is worth acknowledging that in our time society uses this expression rather to emphasize the absurdity of the actions of this or that person. Absurdity is on their part. Common sense is a kind of "big brother", an antipode of emotionality, impulsiveness, sensuality and, sometimes, even adventurism. To act contrary to common sense means doing uncharacteristic, for most people, actions.
Very often this phrase sounds to people "not of this world," that is, creative individuals, or to the address of the youth. They usually do not work the way common sense and ordinary knowledge say. Such a "diversion" from the generally accepted standards and norms makes it possible to fantasize, invent new things, improvise and create.
Perhaps, initially - reliance on common sense - really a pledge of a measured and competent development of the individual in society. Completely his loss - the probability that you can "get stuck" in some unpleasant situation: to return home to a girl one at a later time and in a dark area - devoid of common sense; run a business (work, study), do not do what you must - also not logical. Both of these will invariably lead you to certain consequences. The only question is: are these the consequences you wanted?
But do not believe if he suddenly stops you from doing what you long for and want. The instinct of self-preservation lies inside us and it will not allow us to destroy ourselves. If one understands common sense is the ability to make the right decision based on the situation given to a person, to make the right assumption, which will be based on logical thinking and experience accumulated over the years. Speaking about the fact that someone has such a quality of thinking, we say that a person is able to resist prejudices, fears and delusions. That his experience is enough to correctly analyze all the data and make the best choice for himself. And this choice will be a compromise between man and the world.
