A prolonged cough can significantly complicate life, especially if the disease seems to have receded, and this symptom does not manage to win. Most often a cough with phlegm, which does not last a month or longer, is triggered by untreated catarrhal diseases, but there may be other causes.

What if the cough does not last a month?

First of all, do not panic. The presence of sputum indicates that the body is struggling with the disease, it needs only a little help. It's quite simple to do this:

  1. Take a day off for a few days, spend them in bed, in the absence of stress.
  2. Try to rest more, limit the menu. The diet should be dominated by vegetables and fruits, dairy and other easily digestible foods. The energy saved by the organism will be allowed to fight the disease.
  3. Drink a lot. Often the lack of fluid makes the sputum thick, the bronchial tubes are hard to get rid of it, so the cough for a long time does not pass.
  4. The room in which you are, you need to regularly ventilate and clean. The lower the temperature and the higher the humidity, the better, but do not overdo it - 15 degrees is already extreme.

If the cough does not pass for more than a month, if the above conditions are met, there is pain in the chest and other manifestations of complications of the disease, most likely, you will need antibiotic therapy.
