In some ancient cultures, felt was one of the main building materials. Well, now from felt with their own hands, you can cut and sew a huge number of beautiful and useful things.
Felt is made of artificial and natural fibers. It can be woolen, with synthetic fibers added and completely synthetic (crafts made of wool felt felt softer and warmer, but they like not only you, but also such pests as moths). The felt is produced with the use of moisturizing, heating, friction and other processes aimed at entangling the fibers of fur, wool or hair in a tightly tangled fabric. There are also woven felt, in which the felt is attached to a frame fabric, usually made of wool or jute. Make crafts made of felt by your own hands is not at all difficult, and since the process of making it is similar to the process of making paper, it can also be cut, glued, etc.
Children are very fond of making, sculpting, gluing and creating something. With your help they can make themselves a toy or hand-made articles of felt with their own hands. We recommend starting to make simple applications on paper and simple crafts made of felt. Horse from felt
First, make a fairly simple pattern. Cut out the details of the horse from the paper: tummy and sidewall. Attach them to the felt with a pin, trying not to leave any traces of piercing.
Cut out the tummy and side of the horse, then repeat the work done to get a second sidewall. Fold the tummy and one side of the horse so that the details of the front and hind legs match. Sew the details from the front side in order the back leg, abdomen, front leg. There is no need to turn the product from the wrong side of the face, so it's not difficult to do it.
Sew the second side of the horse to the other pair of legs of the tummy detail in the same sequence. Two lateral parts of the neck should coincide, but do not rush to stitch them, first you need to stuff the legs.
For the manufacture of legs suitable not very rigid wire, the length of which should be 1 cm more than the foot. Carefully insert the wire into the workpiece of the horse, prewound it with threads or strands of wool. Repeat the action with all four legs. Now continue to sew two side pieces, the neck and the head of your craft with felt. Stitched parts fill with cotton, wool or chopped into small pieces of sponge, pushing them deep into the workpiece, then continue to sew the back. Fill the torso, leaving a small area uncrossed, and finish sewing the sidewalls.
The horse is almost ready. To complete the crafts of felt with your own hands, make the mane and tail. Take the felt of red color, cut out a rectangle and fold it in half along the long side. Make a fringe from the rectangle, cutting with scissors and leaving about 5 mm from each side to the middle. Sew the mane either side by side, or so that it develops on both sides. Use a similar method to make a tail. Also for this felt product, which you have almost done with your own hands, you need to cut out small ears. Well, in the end, sew a horse's eyes, they can be made from beads. Your horse is ready! It can be put on the shelf, and you can hang it on the garter. Brooches from felt with their own hands
If you want, you can create a huge amount of products from this beautiful material, spending a very little time on it. Here is an example of how easy it is to make hair gums and felt brooches with your own hands.
It is necessary to cut out an oval about 5 by 8 cm from the felt. Then sew it with a simple seam "forward the needle", stepping from the edge of 4 mm so that then, when the flowers are sewn, pull the thread and get an oval pillow - the base for the brooch.
Just need 5 cut flowers from blue felt. The middle of the flowers should be darkened with wool of a darker blue color.
Sew the flowers to the base of the center with bright yellow threads. Do not sew petals, as they should look natural.
From the unkempt wool we make the leaves, folding it and sewing it together with the flowers. You can use cloth scraps, yarn remnants, green felt.
When all the leaves and flowers are sewn, pull down the thread on which the base of the brooch is collected, stuff it with cotton or wool, and gently sew the pads. Brooch is ready!
