What is halva made from?

In a homogenous greenish-gray mass, it is difficult to guess its original ingredients - unless a strong oil smell reveals the presence of seeds in it. The most common and famous kind of halva is - what did you think? Indeed, of them - sunflower seeds. They are heavily crushed and fried, and as a base add the whipped sugar paste - caramel . The result is a delicate, crumbly, sweet and delicious halva, so loved by children and adults around the world.

In addition to this kind of halva, there are several more types - from sesame, almonds, pistachios, other types of nuts and with the addition of additional components. Most of them are popular only in Arab countries.
