How to sew a coverall for a dog?

Before you sew a dog's overalls with your own hands or buy such a cheap thing in a branded store, weigh all the pros and cons, and decide whether your pet really needs clothes.

We are responsible for those who have tamed us.

Sometimes we humans misunderstand these words. It seems to us that feeding a four-footed pet with a fork, dressing him in a trendy denim overalls for dogs, we are showing super-care about him. In fact, we treat a living creature as a toy, condemning it to life, which goes to a cut, and even harmful to its dog nature.

Leading dog handlers do not approve of the walking of pets in the winter in a warm overall for dogs. Simple summer beacons and anthers are all the more superfluous. Clothing, even very successfully tailored, fetters movement, prevents thermoregulation of the canine organism and adversely affects the coat. All dogs, except those that are devoid of wool cover, tolerate the cold well.

To put on the paws of a dog boots, booties, etc. is necessary only if you are a city dweller, and there is a danger of falling on the pads of the paws of special salt, which is strewn with streets.

But these are only general recommendations, in any case, you have tamed the dog, so you must answer.

Pattern of overalls for small dogs

This pattern of overalls and for large dogs will do, you will only need to change your back measurements and slightly extend the panties. But there is no special need for such a jumpsuit - in the extreme case they can be dressed in a paperclip.

Crochet overall is very simple. To sew it will not require special sewing skills.

As a basis, take the distance from neck to tail. The AB line in the pattern pattern is a segment from the root of the tail to the collar (A - tail, B - neck). The collar should not be tightened tightly.

We measure this distance and divide this number by 8 to find out the length of the side of the grid square used for the construction. Now draw the grid on the paper sheet. The side of the grid square is 1/8 AB. Transfer the pattern of the pattern to the mesh. This tailor-made overall for dogs of square format is universal - it will suit dogs of any size. The cuffs of the trousers are assembled on an elastic band, the length and width are adjustable when fitting.

Sewing a coveralls for dogs is not an easy matter, but still practice on a piece of an old sheet before you cut a piece of plaschevka flannel lining. If you make a hooded overall for a dog, it will protect not only from raw snow, but also from wind and rain.

  2. Between the side side parts of the main tissue along the breast line, sew the lower part, covering the chest and stomach.
  3. The same operation is done with the lining cloth (knitted fonel), then we sew the product with the lining, leaving the armholes and the back line open.
  4. The details of sleeves and pants are sewn along a long section.
  5. Then sew the sleeves into the armholes, in the area of the axillary hollows. Sew on a button and a loop of elastic bands.
  6. On the outer side of the trousers we sew to the side of the overalls, and on the inside, where the legs are not connected to anything, we work with a double fold.
  7. In the inguinal cavities similarly sew on the button and a loop of elastic - to connect the top of the overalls with the bottom.
  8. The detail of the hood must first be tried on the dog - it should not sit too tight. It is better to leave the allowance for a free fit and insert the rubber band.
  9. The details of the hood from the main and lining fabric are put face to face and sewed, leaving the neckline unscrambled. Make incisions to the seam. We edging the open cut of the hood and sewing along the neck line several segments of the fleecy part of the velcro fastener.
  10. Fold the details of the visor with the inside sides, stitch along the long cut and make the incisions to the seam. We turn and insert the plastic seal. Several times we are laying a line parallel to the curved line - now the visor will be rigid.
  11. In the open cut of the visor we hide the allowances for the seams inside and we attach the visor to the frontal part of the hood.
  12. We bend the neck of the overalls and sew along the cut several segments of the clinging part of the fastener-"Velcro" so that they coincide on the neck and hood.
  13. On the back of the overalls sew a zipper.
