Kandzashi box - master class

Caskets of satin ribbons in the technique of Kansas strike with its unusual beauty. In this article we will give a detailed master-class how to make a kanzashi box with your own hands.

We need:

Getting Started

  1. As a basis we use a piece of tuba for winding carpets. Since the tube has too thick walls, we remove excess layers of cardboard. We circle our tube on a piece of felt that will cover the inner walls of the box. For the bottom and the lid of the box we transfer the contour of the base to a sheet of dense cardboard. It should be 6 circles - 4 equal to the outer diameter of the tube, and 2 equal to the inner diameter.
  2. We pair the parts in pairs, getting as a result 2 large circles, and one smaller. We try on the lid to the casket, paying attention to the fact that it easily went inside. We glue to the bottom of the box.
  3. We cut out the details of the bottom and cover of the box from the main fabric. We cut the bottom and cover parts. We apply a thin layer of glue on the side surfaces of the box.
  4. We glue the fabric to the bottom. Tighten the side of the box with the main cloth. Bend inside the protruding part of the hanging and glue it.
  5. We proceed to cover the lid. We extend the protruding parts of the hanging inwards and glue it with transparent glue. We glue a loop and a wide band to the inside of the lid.
  6. We apply glue on a circle of smaller diameter. We glue to the inner part of the lid a circle of smaller diameter. The inner part of the box is pasted with felt. We decorate the top of the side surface with petals, folded from the squares of a tape measuring 55 * 55 mm. The bottom of the lateral surface is decorated with braid.
  7. We decorate the petals with the lower part of the side surface, paying attention to the fact that the edges of the petals do not protrude from behind the edge of the box. We cover the lids with a lid. In order for the petals to be evenly distributed, we begin the patching with 4 petals, placing them with a cross. Between them and will glue all the other petals.
  8. The second row of petals is formed from the squares of a tape measuring 50 * 50 mm. In the middle we glue the pincushion from the main tissue.
  9. We glue the upper row of petals, between them we glue a beautiful button.
  10. We get here such a wonderful casket.
