Means "Prestige" from the Colorado beetle

Growing vegetables is very interesting and, most importantly, useful. How nice to eat potatoes grown by yourself! Having even a small country plot, you can make good supplies for the winter, allowing you to save on buying the most necessary vegetables.

But every more or less experienced gardener knows that there are obvious disadvantages in this business. The most significant of these include numerous pests that can completely ruin your harvest. For potatoes it is a bear, a wireworm and, of course, the main enemy is a Colorado beetle.

To combat these pests, various means are used - from manual collection of the beetle and dusting to the ash prior to the use of various drugs (Commander, Iskra, Aktara). And one of the most popular types of poison from the Colorado beetle is the "Prestige". It is famous for its high efficiency and the lack of large labor costs - it is enough to conduct one treatment, and the beetle will bypass your site by the side all season. But, applying "Prestige" from the Colorado beetle, you need to know some of its features and strictly follow the instructions.

The use of "Prestige" from the Colorado potato beetle

The active substance of the drug is imidacloprid, which has a systemic insecticidal effect. To protect the potato from the beetle, it is sufficient to treat the tubers before or during planting. The working solution is created by diluting the preparation in the right amount of water.

"Prestige" will protect your vegetables not only from pests, but also from diseases, in particular, bacterial and fungal rot, often affecting potato tubers. In addition, it also has an anti-stress effect, which allows the potato to more easily tolerate heat, drought or temperature changes. The application of "Prestige" increases the germination of potatoes, enhances photosynthesis and, accordingly, improves the quality and quantity of the crop.

The drug has a class III toxicity, so treatment should be done in a mask and gloves. This is a mandatory security requirement. Another important point is that the "Prestige" is designed to process only the potato that is harvested in August-September and later. For earlier varieties, it is not suitable, since its components have a breeding period of 60 days, and the harvest collected earlier than this period will contain active chemical compounds.

As practice shows, it is possible to fight the Colorado potato beetle by other means. There is a "Prestige" from the Colorado beetle and analogues - these are the disinfectants "Griffin", "Masterpiece", "Prestiron". They differ not so significantly, except that the price - the drug "Prestige" from the company "Bayer" is somewhat more expensive, but also positive feedback on its effectiveness is also available at times more.
