The island of Shtvanice is one of the venues for sporting events in Prague . Description
In the Middle Ages, the island was only a ford. As the land came to the surface, fishing lodges appeared on it. In the 16th century, a shooting range was organized on the island. After another 2 centuries, a law was issued banning shooting in the city. At the end of the XIX century, Shtvanice became a full-fledged part of Prague and a popular holiday destination . It was built three restaurants, a playground for concerts and theater performances. At the same time he remained private property.
In 1989, the city bought the island, and only then a wooden bridge was built. In 1912 he was replaced by an iron one.
