Mushroom mycosis

Mushroom mycosis - is a low-grade T-cell lymphoma. This disease is characterized primarily by skin lesions, which can not affect the lymphatic system and internal organs for a long time.

Symptoms of mushroom mycosis

In the development of the disease, erythematous, plaqueous (infiltrative) and tumor stages are isolated, each of which can last several years.

Primary symptoms

At the first stage of the disease, the clinical picture is vague, which greatly complicates the diagnosis. First, there are separate red or cyanotic-red itchy spots that can outwardly resemble psoriasis , lichen planus, herpetiform dermatosis, pruritis or other common dermatoses. Over time, the areas of inflammation grow and can cover a considerable area.

Since all the signs of the inflammatory process are present at this stage, and the malignant cells are not detected or present in very small amounts, then there are two points of view:

The second stage of fungal mycosis

At the infiltrative stage sharply outlined, protruding above the surface of the skin, plaques are dark red, up to a brown or cyanotic hue, with a coarse rough surface. Neoplasms can be the size of beans to palm and more.

The third stage of the disease

For the third stage of fungal mycosis, the formation of tumors that protrude several centimeters above the surface of the skin and a fairly rapid growth is characteristic. At this stage, defeat, in addition to skin, can affect the internal organs. The third stage is rarely observed on its own, and usually there are also rashes, characteristic of earlier stages.

Treatment of mushroom mycosis

At the initial stage of fungal mycosis, corticosteroid preparations , restorative and maintenance therapy are used for treatment. In the future, combined therapy is used from cytostatics, antitumor drugs, corticosteroids and other drugs. At the last stage, X-rays and chemotherapy are connected to the treatment.

In the first and second stages of fungal mycosis, with appropriate treatment, the prognosis is favorable and allows for long-term remission. In the third stage, the probability of achieving remission is already low.
