Plum moth - fighting measures

To the most dangerous pests, capable of causing significant damage to your garden, is the plum moth. It is very important to take timely measures to combat it. An insect can damage most of the crop, which becomes unsuitable for use.

How to deal with a plum moth?

The struggle with the moth-eater includes the following methods:

  1. Dappled belts, which are placed at the base of the boles of trees. They are installed in July for first-generation caterpillars and in mid-August-early September for the second generation before they leave for the winter. Scouting belts periodically (every 8-10 days) are checked, cocoons with caterpillars are destroyed.
  2. Collecting the scavenger, which is held daily. This will significantly reduce the number of pests. To collect all the overripe and inedible fruit, it is recommended that the sludge be shaken slightly.
  3. Removing the old bark from tree trunks. Its cracks are a cover for caterpillars for the period of wintering. The bark is collected on burlap, which is laid around the boles of trees, and then burned.
  4. The trimming of tree trunks and main branches with hydrated lime during the early spring.
  5. Soil cultivation in the near-trunk circles by cleansing from weeds and digging.
  6. Treatment of the plum from the moths by spraying with chemical preparations. Effective and often used is thiophos. The first time the process is carried out 8-10 days after flowering, when about one third of butterflies fly out, the second time - at the beginning of the third decade of July, and the third - 10-15 days after the second. In addition, pesticides can be used in aerosols.

Carrying out these activities will help you to effectively protect your garden from plum moth.
