Psychological trauma

Each of us daily confronts with irritants of different origins and strengths, and we all react to these "injections of destiny" in our own way. Psychological trauma is a reaction to an event or an experience of a person, because of which his life deteriorates dramatically. This can be a fear of death, danger, violence, war, loss of a loved one, breaking of relationships, etc. And the same event will have different responses in each individual.

Types of psychological trauma

There are several classifications of types of psychological trauma. First of all, they are divided into acute, shock and chronic. Acute psychotrauma has a short-term effect. It arises against the background of previous events, such as humiliation, breaking of relations.

Shock injury is also short-term. It always arises spontaneously, as a result of events that threaten the lives of people and their loved ones.

A chronic psychological trauma is a prolonged negative impact on the psyche. It does not have a pronounced form, but it can last for years, decades. For example, this is a childhood in a dysfunctional family or a marriage that causes psychological or physical harm.

Symptoms of psychological trauma

Existential injuries - this is the death threat, or the conviction of a person that he and his loved ones are threatened by something. A characteristic symptom is the fear of death . A person in such a situation faces a choice - to become stronger or to close in himself.

The trauma of loss is, first of all, the fear of loneliness. Here, too, there is a characteristic "or": get stuck in a phase of sorrow or leave the thoughts of an irrecoverable person in the past.

The trauma of relations arises, for example, after the betrayal of a loved one. In this case, there are difficulties with trust in people in the future.

And the trauma of error (irreparable) is a feeling of guilt, shame for what was done.
