What kind of water should be poured into the aquarium?

Many people who decide to start an aquarium want to know all the details about the content of fish, the choice of plants and care for water. But the first dilemma faced by an inexperienced aquarist is what kind of water is poured into the aquarium? There are a number of requirements for water quality and several ways to clean it, which will help to achieve the desired consistency.

What kind of water should be poured into the aquarium?

For aquarium should be selected soft neutral water. In large cities such water flows in water pipes. In places where the water pipe is connected with artesian wells, water is too hard. It fits only viviparous fish, adapted to all sorts of adversities.

Too hard aquarium water can be softened by mixing it with soft distilled or rainwater. The water from the thawed snow / ice is also suitable. And collect rain water and ice after continuous long rainfall. To replace water in the aquarium, you can mix 1/4 of the rainwater.

If you decide to use tap water, then fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Do not pour tap water . Pour it into the jar, you can see that its walls will be covered with bubbles. These are gases. They got into the liquid when it was passed through the purification filters. By letting fish into such water, you risk the fact that its body and gills will be covered with vesicles, and ulcers will form on the affected areas.
  2. Keep water clean from chlorine . If the water contains more than 0.1 milligram of chlorine, the young fish and larvae will die in a couple of hours. Concentration of 0.05 milligrams of water will kill fish eggs.
  3. Monitor the pH level . The change in pH is often observed in an artificial pond with soft water and low carbonate content, in strong sunlight. In order to remove the free acid, it is necessary to purge the water column with air and deliver the water to the aquarium in batches, and the pH must be at least 7.

If you observe these indicators of water in the aquarium, it will not be green for a long time, and fish and plants will develop fully.

Cleaning the water in the aquarium

A little will simply prepare the water and pour it into the aquarium. It requires follow-up care, which involves filtration and ozonization. The most common types are the following types of filters:

  1. Internal . The most budgetary, and therefore a common option. It is a pump that transports liquid through a filtering composition from a foam rubber sponge
  2. External . They are often bought for large volumes. They do not take up excess space inside the aquarium and have large volumes of filter materials. Sterilizers are also installed on the external filter.

As you can see, the selection of water for the aquarium and its further control is a simple process.
