Appendicitis causes

One of the most common diseases that require surgical intervention in the abdominal cavity is the inflammation of the appendix. This organ is a process of the cecum of the worm-shaped form. The disease itself is called appendicitis - the causes of inflammation can be different, but, as a rule, they are of an infectious nature.

The causes of inflammation of appendicitis in women

The exact cause that causes the disease in question is not found. Physicians only managed to find out that the determining factor is played by 2 factors:

There are several basic opinions, why appendicitis hurts and inflames:

  1. Endocrine theory suggests that the outgrowth of the cecum initially contains cells that produce a hormone-mediator of inflammatory processes.
  2. According to the infectious theory it is believed that appendicitis is a secondary disease that develops against typhoid, parasitic infections, tuberculosis, iersiniosis , amebiasis.
  3. According to the mechanical theory, the pathological microflora is activated and begins to multiply due to occlusion of the intestinal lumen by various particles, parasites, foreign bodies.
  4. Vascular theory explains appendicitis as a complication of systemic vasculitis.

Causes of acute appendicitis

The described disease develops rapidly, passing through 4 stages:

  1. Catarrhal. Weak inflammation and thickening of the appendix wall, proceeds either without symptoms, or accompanied by a little palpable pain in the stomach;
  2. Purulent. There appears a stitching sensation in the right side, in some areas of the inner surface of the appendix of the cecum there are purulent foci;
  3. Flegious. The appendix is almost entirely covered and impregnated with pus, which is why it increases significantly in volume;
  4. Rupture of the appendage. The stage develops very quickly, literally within 2-3 hours after the reflux phase. The appendix bursts as a result of excessive pressure increase and absolute blockage of purulent masses.

Thus, acute appendicitis arises from the filling of exudate with a high concentration of pathogenic microflora and dead leukocyte cells.

Why is appendectomy excised?

After the inflammation of the appendix has arisen, the process is irreversible, therefore, it is impossible to cure appendicitis with conservative methods. The only solution to the problem is a surgical operation that involves complete excision of the process of the cecum.

It can be performed by various methods, depending on the stage of the disease development, as well as some physiological features of the patient. These are the presence or absence of adhesions , fusion with other internal organs and areas of the intestine.

To date, minimally invasive surgery is progressing. Laparoscopic methods of performing operations are becoming more common, in which instead of a cavity incision small punctures (2 or 3) around the work area are made.

It should be noted that the latest achievement was transluminal aphenectomy. Surgical intervention in this way consists in the fact that access to the appendix is made through natural openings in the human body by means of special flexible instruments, the cut is made only in the wall of the necessary internal organ. This allows to achieve not only the absolute absence of cosmetic defects in the form of scars and scars, but also significantly reduces the subsequent period of recovery of the patient.
