How correctly to water the violets?

There are three different ways of watering violets.

  1. The first of them is watering from above. With this method, violets are poured on top with a thin stream of water to the edge of the pot, trying not to wash out the surface of the soil. For such watering, it is most convenient to use a small watering can with a long nose or a large syringe. It is important to ensure that water does not get to the growth point - the center of the violet, from which young leaves grow. Watering is stopped when water from the drainage hole begins to leak into the pan.
  2. The second method is watering from the bottom. The pot is poured as much water as it can absorb the soil. Approximately half an hour after watering, when the top layer of the soil becomes wet, excess water must be drained.
  3. There is another method - the wicking of violets. The essence of this method of irrigation is to conduct through the drainage hole of the pot a normal strip of fabric or any synthetic cord that is otherwise lowered into a container of water. Due to the capillary effect, water in the required amount will come from the tank to the pot with violet.
