Krkvine Hill

The hill of Cvrquine is one of the six hills surrounded by Trebinje in the Bosnia and Herzegovina federation.

When buying sightseeing tours, acquaintance with the city always begins with the height of this mountain, and not by accident. It is from here that you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the blue ribbon of the Trebyshnitsa River , nestling on the plain, where a city with red roofs, typical of the whole region, has grown up. After seeing it in a different way, you start to treat the city, which may seem a little gray.

Sacred hill of Crkvine

The hill of Crkvine since ancient times is considered a sacred place and is especially revered by believing townspeople. At the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, the Church of St. Michael was built here, but to this day nothing remains of it.

In 2000, on the hill was erected the church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which has its own special history. Here, the national poet Jovan Ducic was re-buried, a revered and respected enlightener, whose ashes were transported from the United States. It was at the bequests he had received on the hill of Crkvine that the church complex Hertsevochka-Gracanica was built, which is the most popular tourist attraction in the neighborhood.
