Prajisan - instructions for use

Most of the miscarriages in the first weeks of pregnancy are due to the inadequate level of the hormone progesterone in the woman's blood. Progesterone helps the fertilized egg to gain a foothold, stops the menstrual cycle, stimulates the growth of the uterus, and does not allow the muscles to contract. If there is a shortage of this hormone, the normal course of pregnancy becomes impossible, the uterus tone rises, the threat of miscarriage develops, which can lead to unfortunate consequences.

In order to "save" the pregnancy, gynecologists in the first trimester prescribe progesterone preparations, for example, Prajisan.

Instructions for use of the progesterone preparation Prajisan

How correctly to take Prajisan during pregnancy? This drug is issued in the form of capsules that must be taken orally, washed down with water, candles for insertion into the vagina, and also vaginal gel. Duration and frequency of the drug, as well as dosage and form of release in each case is assigned individually, and depends, first of all, on the results of a blood test on the level of female sex hormones.

In pregnancy, progesterone Prajisan is usually given in the form of candles, which are injected into the vagina 2-3 times a day, while the dosage is up to 600 mg per day. The medication continues on average until the end of the second trimester. During the use of vaginal suppositories, the microflora of the vagina is disrupted, and a pregnant woman may have a thrush or bacterial vaginosis, so a routine smear test should be performed on the flora.

The oral administration of Prajisan capsules is usually not used during pregnancy, as it causes more side effects, and can be dangerous to the health of the future mummy.

Medicines of progesterone can be prescribed by a doctor also outside the period of pregnancy.
