Psychological experiments on people

Psychological experiments on people were conducted not only by cruel doctors of fascist Germany. Having succumbed to research passion, scientists sometimes conduct the most terrible psychological experiments, the results of which, although shocking the public, are still rather interesting for psychologists.

The most terrible psychological experiments

In the history of mankind there have been many shocking experiments on people. Most likely, not all of them were publicized, but those that are known are striking with their monstrosity. The main feature of such psychological experiments is that the subjects received a psychological trauma that completely changed their lives.

Among such the most terrible psychological experiments on people, we can mention the study of Wendell Johnson and Mary Tudor, conducted in 1939 with the participation of 22 orphans. The experimenters divided the children into two groups. The children from the first were told that their speech was correct, the participants of the second were humiliated and ridiculed for verbal flaws, calling the stutterers. As a result of this experiment, children from the second group really became stutterers for life.

The purpose of the psychological experiment of psychologist John Mani was to prove that gender is determined by upbringing , and not by nature. This psychologist advised the parents of the eight-month-old Bruce Reimer, who, as a result of unsuccessful circumcision, damaged the penis, completely removed it and brought up the boy as a girl. The result of this monstrous experiment is the man's broken life and his suicide.

Other interesting psychological experiments on people

A Stanford prison experiment is widely known. In 1971, the psychologist Philip Zimbardo divided his group of students into "prisoners" and "supervisors." The students were placed in a room reminiscent of a prison, but they did not give any instructions for behavior. Within a day the participants got so used to their roles that the experiment had to be terminated prematurely for ethical reasons.

An interesting psychological experiment was conducted on modern adolescents. They were offered to spend 8 hours without a TV, computer and other modern gadgets, but they allowed to draw, read, walk, etc. The result of this experiment is also shocking - out of 68 participants only 3 teenagers were able to withstand the test. The rest started with somatic and mental problems - nausea, dizziness, panic attacks and suicidal thoughts.
