Our today's master class, we decided to devote to creating hand-made bags in the technique of patchwork sewing. Let's say at once that this work is laborious, requiring accuracy and accuracy, but the result is worth it.
We need:
- the main fabric is gray;
- lining fabric;
- Remains of various fabrics of suitable colors;
- thread;
- glutinous fleece;
- sintepon;
- a hammer;
- sewing machine;
- graph paper.
Getting Started
- First of all, draw a pattern of our bag of scraps. We will transfer the detail of the bag where the pattern will be placed on the millimeter paper.
- We divide the part into four blocks of 75-75 mm in size, we will draw all the lines of the future pattern in one of the blocks. Prepare for the pattern shreds of 8 different fabrics with a width of 25 mm each.
- We connect the strips in pairs, and then cut into rectangles 40 * 25 mm.
- We connect the rectangles in pairs and edge them with strips of brown cloth.
- We verify the resulting decor element with a pattern, try on how it looks on the main fabric and background fabric
- We cut the background fabric into triangles.
- We spend decorative elements and background fabric.
- We connect all the details of the pattern with paint tape and try it on the lining fabric.
- Sew the patterned insert in the detail of the main fabric, check the pattern matching.
- We transfer the details of the pattern to the fabric, leaving the double allowances for shrinkage. We connect all 5 layers of the bag:
- lining;
- double-sided glutinous fleece;
- sintepon;
- double-sided glutinous fleece;
- the main fabric.
We select suitable threads and apply the basic lines for fastening to the parts. Quilting the bag with special quilting stitches. From the main fabric we cut out two strips 130x450 mm and sew a snake between them. We connect all 5 layers of the top part of the bag and quilter it, and then cut according to the pattern. From the main fabric we cut out two strips 35 * 120 mm. We put into them a piece of sintepon and sew it by hand. Create volumetric rollers next to the zipper. We cut out the side details of the bag. To the detail of the top, we take the "ears" from hand-sewn cushions, and then sew on the side details and quilts them. From the main fabric we cut out the border strip 40 * 1300mm, add it twice, spread it out and fill it with sintepon. We cut the details of the bag according to the pattern, we sew the fringing strip.
We cut out the strips for the handles 90 * 270 mm, we spread them and sew them to the bag. We sweep all the details of the bag, we spend them. Cut off excess fabric and close the cuts edging. It turns out such a wonderful bag in scrappy technique !. Also, in the technique of patchwork sewing, you can make a beautiful blanket .
