Can children have a Sofradex?

To children of younger age, drops of ephedrax are prescribed with caution, since at high doses and long-term use it can cause suppression of the function of the adrenal cortex, and also causes systemic effects on the body. It is necessary to be extremely careful when using sofradex in children, as it can cause serious side effects: increased intraocular pressure, development of posterior subcapsular cataract, thinning of the sclera or cornea, attachment of a fungal infection. Allergic reactions, due to the presence of glucocorticoid in the composition of drops, are usually delayed and expressed in the form of itching, burning, dermatitis.

It should not be used in conjunction with streptomycin, monomycin, kanamycin, gentamicin.

Eye drops sfradeks for children older than 7 years instilled 1-2 drops in the eye every hour.

Ear drops of Sofrex for children older than 7 years instilled 3-4 times a day for 2-3 drops in each ear.

To a child of younger age, the doctor must choose a dose.

In either case, the duration of the course of treatment should not exceed 7 days. An open vial with a drug can be stored for not more than 1 month.

Some doctors - pediatricians and otolaryngologists - sometimes recommend burying the subfadex in the nose to the baby, despite the fact that, according to the instruction, it's eye and ear drops. Indeed, if there are serious indications, the suffadex can be buried in the nose. In this case, it can not be used for more than 3 days, nor can it be used in its pure form, since the drug is aggressive to the nasal mucosa (it is usually recommended to dilute 1: 1 drops with saline or water for injection). As for the treatment of a common cold, then in this case, the suffragex is not the best remedy - for this there are a lot of other effective and more sparing drugs that do not cause side effects.
