Types of self-evaluation

Self-esteem is, perhaps, one of the most significant qualities in a person's life. It begins to form in early childhood and forms the further life of a person. It is thanks to her that our success in society, achievement of the desired, often harmonious and conflict-free coexistence with oneself is often determined.

Self-esteem is an evaluation of one's own merits and demerits, actions and actions, determination for oneself of its importance in society. For a more accurate characterization of the personality, there are different types of self-assessment, which will be discussed.

What types of self-esteem exist?

  1. Adequate / inadequate self-esteem. Perhaps the most important types of self-esteem of the individual, because they determine how sound and true the person values his strength, actions and qualities.
  2. High / medium / low self-esteem . Here the level of evaluation is determined directly. It manifests itself in giving undue importance or vice versa - insignificance to own merits and shortcomings. Extreme types of self-esteem rarely contribute to the productive development of man, since low blocks the resolve of actions, and overestimated - suggests that everything is fine and nothing to do, in general, it is not necessary.
  3. Stable / floating self-esteem. It is determined by whether a person's self-esteem depends on his mood or success in a given situation (period of life).
  4. General / private / concrete-situational self-evaluation. Indicates the area on which the assessment is distributed. Does the person evaluate himself on physical or mental data, in a particular area: business, family, personal life. Sometimes it can only concern certain situations.

All this - the main types of self-evaluation in psychology. Since a sound and adequate attitude towards oneself is laid down in childhood, it is worthwhile to pay attention to this moment in children - it is much easier to form an adequate self-esteem at an early age and it means much more.
