If you want to get a jam with a thick syrup, then to the list of ingredients should be added a teaspoon of dry pectin, otherwise pectin contained in pears should be enough.

Before cooking pear jam slices, cut pears and peaches into slices of equal size, put in an enameled container and pour sugar. Put a container with a future jam on the fire cook until fruits are not allowed to juice and will not dissolve all the crystals. Pour in the rum and add the ground spices. When the mixture boils, reduce heat and cook pear jam slices in syrup for 15-20 minutes. Fill the jam with clean jars and place them in a pot of boiling water for 10 minutes. Remove the sterilized jars with tongs and roll them with scooped lids.
