Pregnancy and lactation simultaneously

Life sometimes presents us with such surprises, which we could not even imagine. These situations include pregnancy during lactation. Although this event is not a catastrophe, it has some peculiarities that you should know about.

How to combine pregnancy and lactation simultaneously is a question that no specialist can answer unequivocally. After all, there are many accompanying factors, which should also be paid attention, choosing in favor of one or the other baby.

Signs of pregnancy during lactation

Most often, when lactation in the mother has not yet begun menstruation, and therefore, to suspect the presence of pregnancy is quite problematic. You can do the test only when there are already obvious suspicions, but more often a woman remains unaware of her condition for a long time.

If Mom did not lose weight after childbirth and she is overweight, even the tummy that began to grow will go unnoticed. Mom, breastfeeding a baby, is constantly tired, she does not get enough sleep, and therefore these signs, which can be seen in normal pregnancy, are also not relevant.

The only thing that can alert a lactating woman is the appearance of nausea. If such periods become regular, then it is better to conduct a laboratory test for the presence of chorionic gonadotropin in the blood, in order to make sure of the presence or absence of pregnancy.

If the pregnancy is confirmed, the woman needs to know that during the lactation period, various unforeseen and sometimes unpleasant situations may await her. Sometimes doctors are categorically advised not to leave the child, because of the too heavy course of the previous pregnancy. In this case, the mother must decide in favor of her own health or in favor of a new life.

How does pregnancy and feeding take place at the same time?

If your mother made her choice, then now you should think about how to continue breastfeeding, because pregnancy and feeding are not easy. If the older child is already 2-3 years old, the best option is to gradually wean him. Of course, if there are no contraindications, you should not do it sharply, despite the already "solid" age of the child. It will not be easy for him to do it at one time, and mother's nervous system will not do such a good excommunication.

It is best to gradually reduce the number of applications, leaving only the night, and 3-4 months before delivery, and remove them. Thus, the child will lose the habit of sucking, and when he sees how the newborn is applied to the breast, he will not have undesirable associations.

If the baby is less than a year old, or even several months old, then about any excommunication, most likely, my mother will not listen. After a minimum of 12 months the child should receive breast milk for normal development and the formation of good immunity. In this case, you have to simultaneously combine pregnancy and lactation.

If a woman does not have contraindications, strong tone and threat of abortion, it is logical to continue to feed the baby. In the first months of doing this should be the same as before pregnancy. But the longer the period, the more rare the application should become.

The nature itself provides for a certain reduction in the amount of milk by the end of gestation, so that the older child will in any case require supplementation, and he will gradually switch to "adult" nutrition and after the birth of a brother or sister will calmly transfer the process of excommunication.

If the baby is only one year old at the time of the second birth, and he is not yet ready for excommunication, then after the mother returns home from the hospital, they will continue breastfeeding, but already with a tandem. You can do this in various ways - at the same time, give the elder what the junior did not suck, or for each take his time. But in any case, we should not forget that in order to feed two babies, the mother needs a rest and a high-calorie diet so that her body does not suffer during lactation, and she could give her children nourishing milk.
