Review of the book "Conscious Meditation - A Practical Guide to Pain Relief and Stress Reduction, Vidyamala Birch and Danny Penman"

Conscious meditation. At first glance, this book is quite good. Pleasant to the touch, soft colors, interesting subjects. Everything is located to a comfortable reading. But now the first chapter leaves an unpleasant residue. A lot of dry text is not about anything. Moreover, the difference in the writing of the first chapter and the second is very noticeable. I mean that these chapters were written by different people. And the manner of writing is very different. But from the second chapter it becomes more interesting to read this book. Although, I would not call it a practical tool to relieve pain, the book helps a person to feel their body.

The next eight chapters describe the program of conscious meditation, as they call it. The co-authors claim that if you stick to the schedule of meditations, all the pain will disappear, the stresses will pass. Perhaps a person will become calmer, but is this systematic work on schedule? It reminds of taking medications - 3 times a day for 1 tablet ... What is this nonsense ?! I do not know, I personally do not like it.

But I liked the suggestions of coffee meditation. Here the role of concentration makes sense. So you can practice in everything, paying attention to sensations, perception, affecting the organs of touch and smell, for example. The book does contain a lot of practical good tips, stories. The authors propose to re-read some chapters to improve the practical skills of meditation. But, guys, it's very hard to read, and the second time I would not read it. Yes, and would not advise, in principle, it for reading to your friends.
