Carrot oil

Carrots are a juicy root crop, which does not contain oil in itself. Therefore, carrots are two different products. Firstly, this essential oil obtained from carrot seeds is not cheap and is found on sale only in specialized stores, in the industry it is used as a component of various cosmetics. The second option, which is more often found and used is infusion (macerated, infus) pulp of carrots on some vegetable oil (olive, almond, etc.).

Application of carrot oil

Carrots contain a large number of vitamins, primarily beta-carotene, as well as vitamins E, B, D, C and various minerals.

Carrot oil in cosmetology

As a matter of itself, and as an additive to creams and face masks, carrot oil has an antioxidant and soothing effect, nourishes and softens the skin, helps fight off the peeling, eliminate traces of rashes. When rubbed into the scalp helps improve the condition of dry and split ends. In addition, carrot oil is often used in tanning products : it protects the skin from excessive drying and gives the tan an even, more saturated shade. However, it must be taken into account that carrot oil, like any other, is not a sunscreen, and it is better to apply it to the skin already accustomed to the sun.

Getting carrot oil at home

There are two ways to get oily carrot infusions at home.

Method one:

  1. Grated, preferably on an average grater, carrots are placed in ceramic dishes.
  2. Pour olive oil or any other oil so that it closes about 1-1.5 cm.
  3. Put in a water bath.
  4. When the oil acquires a characteristic orange tint, and the carrot completely settles on the bottom, it is removed, filtered and poured into glass containers.

Store this oil in a refrigerator, and the shelf life can be limited.

Method two:

  1. Grated carrots are dried in the sun or in the oven with the fan turned on, at a temperature not exceeding 50ÂșC.
  2. Finished raw materials are covered in glass containers (about a third of the volume of dishes).
  3. Pour oil and insist at room temperature for at least 3 weeks.

This method is longer, but due to the lack of moisture, this oil does not deteriorate and can be kept long enough. For longer storage in the first and second cases, it is better to use jojoba oil.
