Modern methods of contraception

Means of contraception are created with a single goal - to protect against the consequences of sexual intercourse, whether it is an unwanted pregnancy or a venereal disease. At the beginning of the XX century, the world used only barrier contraceptives, which directly prevented the penetration of sperm into the mucous membrane of the uterus. The most famous, ancient, and at the same time, popular modern contraceptive means is a condom. Invented in Italy, back in the 16th century for the protection of syphilis, the condom, slightly modified, nevertheless retained the right to be the only male method of contraception.

So, let's consider the main modern methods of contraception.

Neck cap

One of the modern methods of contraception is analogous to the male condom. Neck cap closes the cervix, upper part of the vagina and vaults, mating with the neck. The disadvantage of this method is the need for introduction before each sexual act, but the cap can be used during lactation , because it does not affect the hormonal background.

The vaginal diaphragm

Convenient modern contraceptive. The diaphragm consists of a ring with a metal spring in the middle, which ensures the fixation of the uterus. This tool is selected by a gynecologist individually in size. The diaphragm should be worn before every sexual intercourse, having previously been lubricated with spermicidal gel, which destroys spermatozoa. This method can be used during lactation, but it is not possible during menstruation.

Master brooch

It is a sphere flattened on one side for attachment to the cervix. The sponge also contains spermicides, it should be worn one day before sexual intercourse and left inside for 30 hours.

Vaginal ring

A modern contraceptive that combines barrier and hormonal protection. It is inserted inwardly into the vagina and contains the composition of female sex hormones, as well as oral contraceptives, only in a lower dosage. Due to this, negative consequences are more rare, and the ring itself is made of hypoallergenic material. The ring is introduced for three weeks, then it is removed and after 7 days a new one is introduced. The only negative is that the ring can fall out if you install it incorrectly.

As the abundance of women's contraceptives shows, protection from consequences is the lot of women. Therefore, it is necessary to take care of the choice of the most acceptable method of protection in advance.
