Thermography

Thermography is one of the methods of medical research, the principle of which is based on the transformation of the infrared radiation of the human body into an electronic impulse. The latter visualizes on the screen of the receiving device a video image of the organ or organism as a whole. Depending on the equipment, the thermogram can be colored or black and white.

How are the results of infrared thermography deciphered?

Different shades and colors that appear on the monitor of the device, correspond to different temperature indicators. So, for example, the so-called "cold" parts of the body are painted in blue tones, and areas with a high temperature are indicated by yellow, red, green and white colors. If the thermogram is made in black and white, then the darker the shade of color, the lower the temperature of this section, and vice versa.

How is medical thermography done?

To the parts of the body that need to be examined, the doctor applies a special plate or foil having an inner layer of specific liquid crystals. The latter have the ability to change their color, depending on the slightest temperature fluctuations. As soon as infrared radiation begins to affect the crystals, the image is transferred to the monitor. Then the color indicators are compared with the electronic temperature scale.

Why is thermography used in medicine?

As a rule, physicians refer to this type of research in the presence of suspicions of insufficient arterial blood circulation. Especially relevant is the thermography of the mammary glands, which allows to detect any inflammatory processes in the chest or the presence of tumors, early stages of cancer and other pathologies. This makes this method much more effective than, for example, mammogram of the mammary glands . Very informative and thermography of the thyroid gland, helping to recognize any pathological processes taking place on this part of the body. In any case, all the results obtained during the study should be confirmed by other analyzes and examinations.

Is it dangerous to do computer thermography?

This method is absolutely safe and will not cause any discomfort or pain. The method of thermography is one of the ways to diagnose various diseases and abnormal state of the body. It is also used for the prevention of cancer, tracking the course of pathologies and the effectiveness of the treatment. Therefore, a woman can be useful for a breast examination . Thermography can catch the earliest stages of inflammation, tumors or vascular diseases.
