Recipe of Lithuanian Zeppelin with meat

Ingredients:

Preparation

Preparing Lithuanian Zeppelins is simple enough, but it is necessary to follow the recipe instructions exactly. First you need to grate the potatoes on a small grater, leaving the whole one-third of the whole mass untouched. The resulting mashed potatoes should be mixed with citric acid, put the mass in a colander, so that the liquid drains, and remove it to the side.

While the mashed potatoes are separated from the liquid, the remaining potatoes must be boiled until ready and mashed to a consistency of mashed potatoes. Stacked with grated potato liquid will contain a large amount of starch, which should be kept by draining the water itself.

Now you can mix grated and mashed potatoes with starch and grind the ingredients until smooth. This mass is a kind of test for future zeppelins.

Meat minced, in turn, should be mixed with finely chopped onions and spices. Be sure to leave one onion for cooking gravy. The Lithuanian Zeppelin dish is shaped like pies. From the potato mass, small round cakes should be formed, in the middle of which to lay a spoonful of pork forcemeat, then tightly cover the edges of the cake.

Each of the resulting pies should be rolled in starch and sent to cook in salted water. How much to brew zeppelins depends on their size, but usually this process takes 20-22 minutes. You can also prepare zeppelins in the oven, laying them on a greased baking sheet and sending a plate heated to 220 degrees.

While the main part of the dish is prepared, you can do the preparation of the filling and sauce. Salo should be cut into small pieces and sent to a frying pan. The remaining untouched bulb should be peeled and finely chopped, then sent to a frying pan to the fat. When the onion blushes, and the fat melts to squash, pour the sour cream into the pan and add the spices. Extinguish the sauce for a few more minutes.

Cooked or baked zepelliny should be put in a deep roasting dish, pour them with the resulting sauce and send it to the oven for 10-15 minutes. Serve them hot.

Lithuanian cuisine, zeppelins in which occupy one of the main places, is famous for the use of fatty foods. If desired, you can prepare a less calorie and fatty version of this dish.
