Kusudama superbar

The original appearance, ornate forms and elegance of Kusudam's superstars made in origami technique, leave no one indifferent. A classic super-ball is created by masters of origami from forty parts-modules. However, those who have not yet tried their hand at this kind of needlework, this activity may seem too complicated. That's why we offer to familiarize yourself with the master class for beginners, which describes how to make Kushudama modules of a superstar in origami technique, and then collect them. Modules for creating a superball can be six, and twelve - as many as you like! However, the size of this craft is determined not only by the number of parts, but also by their size. The larger the module, the greater will be the super-ball. In our example, 40 modules are used to make the superball. Kusudam lovers call the modules of this form "gvozdichkami", because they really resemble the shape of this flower. So, let's get to work!

We will need:

  1. Take a square sheet of paper and lay it down with the colored side. Then bend it in half diagonally to make a triangle. And bend it in half again.
  2. Open the resulting lid on top and slightly pull out the corner. On the other side of the module, repeat the operation. You should have a square module with a fold line diagonally.
  3. Slightly open the top pocket, squeezing the center of the module. Do the same with the three remaining parties. At this stage, the module is an extended rhombus with a bend line diagonally.
  4. Move the left and right corners to the diagonal. Do the same with the other three sides of the module. Then bend the bottom corner upward and press down firmly, fixing the fold line.
  5. Gently unfold the module to make sure all the fold lines are clear. Fold the corners inward to the four diagonal fold lines, as shown in the figure, and the resulting element is bent down.
  6. In a similar way, make the same elements on the other three sides. As a result, you will get such a module kusudama. Acting according to this scheme, make 39 more modules for Kushudam's superball. Now you can proceed to glue the modules into a ball. We recommend to glue them first in pairs, making sure that the side faces exactly match each other. If you allow inaccuracy, the article will look sloppy and asymmetrical.

When gluing individual modules, pay special attention to the cleanliness of the work surface. One drop of glue can ruin the craft, because it is almost impossible to remove it from the ball.

Interesting ideas

This creation of crafts could be completed, but the super-ball can be made even more attractive and original. For example, ordinary beads. If you glue a small sparkling bead in the center of each flower module, then the Kusudama will play with new colors. Do not overload decorative items with decorative elements, so that a light air ball of paper does not turn into a heavy lump.

Have you decided on a specific place where the super-ball is suspended? Then the usual decorative cord as a suspension will not work, because it will have to be constantly tied and untied. To get rid of this problem it is easy, if to the end of a cord to adhere a metal ring which is available on each key ring.
