Scabies - incubation period

Scabies - infection with an itch mite, which does not have clear boundaries of incubation. Consider what this is related to, and how infection occurs.

Incubation period of scabies

The difference in the timing of incubation depends on the mode of infection:

  1. If a person is attacked by larvae, the incubation is delayed, since they first need to grow. In this case, the incubation period of scabies in humans is on average 8-12 days, and sometimes 2 weeks.
  2. In case of infection by adult females, the incubation is reduced to several hours. This time is necessary for a mature person to gnaw through the skin in the surface layer and lay eggs.
  3. Also the type of infection plays a role. If it is a primary infection, the pronounced itching begins to appear only 2 weeks after the tick hits the skin, as an allergic reaction to the products of its vital activity.
  4. With secondary infection, the incubation period is significantly reduced and the first symptoms are felt after several hours. Even with reduced sensitivity, the body reacts to the presence of a tick in the first day of infection.
  5. If a person has a sufficiently strong immunity and has been infected with larvae, the incubation period may last for a month.

Infection occurs with close contact with a person. You can pick up a tick during sexual intercourse, using one clothing, bathroom accessories, household items. True, the household mode of transmission is questioned. It is relevant if the patient is expected to live with healthy people in the same room, since long-term contact is required for infection.

Since it is impossible to accurately determine which incubation period for scabies, one should constantly adhere to the basic rules of hygiene and do not practice sex with casual partners.
