Decoupage on cardboard

Decoupage can be done not only on a wooden, ceramic, plastic or glass surface, but also on thick paper (cardboard). Most often this technique is used to decorate boxes, newsagents and decorative figurines.

In this article, intended for novice craftsmen, we will learn how to make decoupage on cardboard.

It will take:

  1. We put glue on the paper, and then glue it to the box and smear it with glue.
  2. The next element is glued, slightly overlapping the first.
  3. We paste in this way the whole box: inside and out.
  4. When the glue dries, the box can be decorated with stickers and bright colors.

Very often decoupage is done only on the lid. To do this, it is necessary to cut out a certain pattern with an allowance of 1 cm and according to the technology of decoupage, paste it in the place where you want it to be.

To create an effect of abrasion, the sides of the box should be smeared with dark paint, by going a little on the lid, and then gently wipe it.

Decoupage can also be used for blanks from cardboard, which will then be used to create the figure.

Master class: making decorative birds

It will take:

  1. From the prepared templates we cut out the cardboard: trunk and 2 wings;
  2. We take wings, spread them on one side with glue and cover them with sparkles. It is necessary to wait for complete drying.
  3. We take the trunk and lubricate the glue, and then we apply pieces of paper with notes to it and cover it with glue.
  4. Crop all unnecessary.
  5. With the help of glue, the wings are attached to the trunk.
  6. We make a neat hole in the upper part of the trunk with the puncher and pass the ribbon into it.
